Heals (2019) is a presentation of four paintings brought together through a narrative inspired by a habit of mine. The chapel-like exhibition room and the position of the paintings give the surrounding of Heals an intentional altar-piece aesthetic.
With this project, I put emphasis on the presentation as being very holy. I chose the subject of the main painting to be a habit of mine which I myself regard as my worst characteristic: the desire to peel off my own skin. Challenging myself, I took close pictures of my heels after this action and made them into the composition of a altarpiece main painting. The two side paintings are part of the story, showing fact and judgement. The fourth painting in this exhibition is on another wall because it is not specifically part of this series but it connects as it can be regarded as a relic of my own hand, doing the action of peeling off the skin.
